Notes for Carmanian gaming in the Gloranthan Second Age
The official start date for Mongoose RuneQuest is 908ST, which is a great time for gaming in Peloria! This site will be gradually filled with my ideas for such a game. For now, a few rough notes:
Timeline of Future Events (spoiler alert!)
Your Family's History:
Your Father's Prime: (888 – 908)
Your father was one of the last knights to earn his spurs during the legendary
reign of Shah Saman the Lion, who fell in battle fighting the EWF. The new
shah, Samandar, fought a loosing battle against the advancing Dragon
Lords until his half-brother Survilstar discovered the secrets of Carmanian
Dragonslaying and won the battle of Three Dragons Fall. Since that glorious
day, the flower of carmanian chivalry has been pusihng the EWF back through
the barbaric southern hills. The time has almost come to open a new front
in the war. The marsh-dwelling folk of Darjiin are old allies of Carmania,
and it is unjust that they should be slaves to the Cold Blooded.

Your Grandfather's Prime : (868 – 888)
During your grandfather's youth many Carmanians defined
themselves by declaring allegiance to once side or the other of their dualistic
faith. The Light and Dark Shahs each promoted their chosen philosophy and suppressed
all opposition. Carmania was a divided land, and the conflict sapped the Good
People of the strength and focus needed to resist the inexorable march of the
EWF. The great cities of the Oslir River fell, and the Dragon Sun was proclaimed
emperor of Dara Happa. Then came Shah Saman the Lion. At first a proponent
of the Light, Shah Saman recognized the wisdom of Balance and promoted it throughout
the land. The new revelation proved that each man must maintain a spiritual
balance of Light and Dark within himself. In this way Shah Saman healed his
divided kingdom and gave it the strength to resist the Dragon Sun.
