| The following Homelands are
found within a 200 mile radius of Kitor, the capitol of the Western
Reaches. This list is by no means exhaustive. Other possible Homelands
would likely include Dara Happan, Darjiini, or Mortasori (from across the
Sweet Sea). Those Homelands are not listed here because they are more
than 200 miles away from Kitor. See resources
below for information on the referenced HeroQuest products.
Primary Homelands CARMANIAN
People of this culture live all over northwestern Peloria, not
just in the Oronin Valley. They come in two basic flavors - Lunar and
Traditional. Lunar Carmanians are (naturally) more common east of the
Oronin River. The main difference is that Lunar Carmanians believe in
Balance through Cycles, reincarnate after death, and have a comparatively
liberal attitude regarding caste mobility. Aronius Joranthir is the Lunar
Carmanian
cultural founder. Traditional Carmanians believe in maintaining a personal
Balance in all things at all times, do not reincarnate after death, and
are more conservative regarding caste mobility.
Magic: Predominantly Theist with Wizardry practiced among the Viziers.

PELANDAN
Natives of the Oronin Valley who are not Carmanian. West of the
Oronin River they are mostly serfs. They consider themselves citizens of
their home city-state rather than as "Pelandans". They come in
three basic flavors - Northern (Spolite), Central (Ulawari), and Southern
(Bisosae). Northern Pelandans tend to worship gods of darkness and
suffering. Central Pelandans worship the Jernotian High Gods (Jernotius,
Turos, Oria, Bentus, Uleria, Idovanus, and Dendara). Southern Pelnandans
worship Bisos the Bull and Lady Charmian, goddess of Lake Oronin.
